The Emmaus senior legion baseball team wraps up the regular season this week with a doubleheader at Whitehall.
The two final games will bring to a close what has been a tough stretch for the Hornets, who are 0-12 going into the finale.
Last week, Emmaus suffered a pair of shutout losses to Northern Valley and South Parkland. The last time Emmaus scored a run came in a five-run second inning against Whitehall on June 24, giving them a 21-inning scoreless streak.
In a 3-0 loss to Northern Valley (6-6), Davin Rompilla went 2-for-3 and James Raynock went 1-for-2 to provide the only offense that Emmaus was able to generate. In addition to picking up two hits, Rompilla threw six innings, allowing just five hits and three earned runs, holding the Chargers to the lowest. Rompilla upped his on-base percentage to .370 on the season, putting him third on the team behind Dennis Holland (.407) and Cole George (.406).
Raynock had the only Emmaus hit of the game against South Parkland (10-1), going 1-for-2 in the 19-0 loss.
The last time Emmaus scored a run was against Whitehall (4-4), who will host the Hornets in the final two games of the season. In that game, Emmaus put up six runs with Kaden Zacharda picking up two hits, including a bases-loaded triple in the second that gave him four RBI in the game. George doubled and walked, scoring both times he was on-base.
The Hornets do have a knack for adding some timely hits as six of the 21 runs they have scored this season have come with two outs.
