21-year-old driver charged in short police chase

A 21-year-old driver faces charges of fleeing and eluding police, driving under the influence and drug possession after he allegedly crashed into several parked vehicles and led authorities on a brief chase 12:44 a.m. July 5, according to a news release from the Salisbury Township Police Department.

According to court documents available July 7, Elijah Patron, of Fountain Hill, was unable to post bail and was confined to Lehigh County Jail.

Salisbury police detailed the incident as follows:

When officers stopped a vehicle near East Susquehanna Street and Trappe Lane, the motorist, identified as Patron, fled west on East Susquehanna Street. The pursuit lasted approximately one minute, according to the news release.

The motorist allegedly struck multiple parked cars in the 700 block of East Juniata Street, a neighboring street. Authorities described the parked vehicles as “severely damaged” and “not occupied.”

Patron was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Court documents of charges against Patron include allegedly fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving, careless driving, accidents involving damage to unattended vehicles or property, obscuring, covering or inhibiting visibility of a license plate and traffic offenses.
