Joan M. Yasenchok
Joan M. Yasenchok, 84, of North Whitehall, died suddenly on July 2, 2024.
She was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Bacak) Kulanko.
Born in Bethlehem, she was a 1957 graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School.
She began a teaching career at St. Anne’s Elementary but found her calling as a dedicated mother and homemaker for many years.
When her eldest left for college, she re-entered the workforce as a front office secretary at Parkland High School and worked for more than 20 years.
She enjoyed the interaction with the kids and especially celebrated all their accomplishments.
She was an active parishioner at Holy Trinity Catholic Church and participated in the RCIA program, deepening her own faith as she helped prepare new members of the church.
She continued her faith development with participation in women’s group and Bible study, forging deep friendships.
A proud sorority member of Beta Sigma Phi for more than 65 years, she forged lifelong bonds of sisterhood while performing works of service to the greater community.
She was a member of the Lehigh Valley Couturiere Society, and loved the creative process, reveling in the talent and artistry of her fellow members.
She loved meeting people and was an avid conversationalist.
She leaves behind many devoted friends she made throughout her life.
In addition to her beloved husband of 61 years, David Yasenchok, she is survived by a brother Jack and his wife, Carol Kulanko; daughters Denise Shost and Debra (Yasenchok) Culter; son-in-law Brandon Culter and Donna Yasenchok; grandchildren Jessica Shost, Michael Shost and fiancée, Jane Hinkle, and Carsen and Jackson Culter.
