William F. Whittaker

William “Bill” F. Whittaker, 78, of Macungie, died July 4, 2024, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Susan Whittaker for 18 years. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frank Whittaker and the late Leona (Miller) Whittaker.

After graduating from Parkland High School, he joined the Navy. He served during the Vietnam War and earned the rank of ETR3 before being honorably discharged.

He started his own business in 1983, Bill Whittaker & Son Construction, specializing in designing and constructing beautiful and unique home remodeling in the Lehigh Valley area. He owned and operated the business for 30 years before selling the business to his son and retiring in 2012.

He had a passion for playing cards, watching “Perry Mason” and there were no interruptions allowed every evening during “Jeopardy.”

He is survived by his wife; son, Scott A. and fiance, Erin Dashner, of Schnecksville; daughter, Sally Kahan and her husband, Barry, of Allentown; stepdaughters, Katie E. Adar, and her husband, Tom, of Slatington, Tina L. Luettgen and her husband, Stephen, of Allentown; 11 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters. He was predeceased by a brother, James; sister, Bonnie.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Lehigh Valley Alzheimer’s Association, care of the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. July 11 at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton. The family invites relatives and friends to gather 5 p.m. until the time of service.
