The NORCO semifinals got underway on Monday with top-seeded Wanderers taking on their Bethlehem friends Freemansburg in the best of three series.
Freemansburg snuck into the playoffs as the sixth-seed and knocked off East Stroudsburg in three games, winning the finale 6-2 to put them in a showdown with the Wanderers.
The Wanderers defeated Freemansburg twice during the regular season, 9-2 and 6-3 respectively, but Wanderers manager is focusing on what his team needs to do this week to get back into the championship round to defend their title.
“As far as our potential matchups go, it doesn’t really matter much to us,” said Walsh. “All the playoff teams are talented and have good enough pitching where one strong pitching performance can neutralize another good team and change the momentum in a series. I am confident that with our A-game we can beat anyone, however.”
Second-seeded Northampton squares off against fifth-seeded Hellertown in the other series.
Hellertown swept Nazareth in two games to advance in what should be an interesting matchup with Northampton, as both teams split their season series this summer.
Both semifinals began on Monday at the higher seeds venue and action switches to Freemansburg and Hellertown on Tuesday. If a game three is needed it’ll switch back to the Wanderers and Northampton home sites.
