Gary V. “Butch” Walper Sr., 82, of Macungie, died peacefully July 5, 2024. He was the husband of Lucille (Costa) Walper for almost 62 years. Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Robert and Edith N. (Berwick) Walper.
He was a skilled auto mechanic all of his life, working for Scotty’s Arco, Sacks Automotive and Neil’s Performance.
After retiring he enjoyed working as a courier for NAPA.
He was a life member of Fullerton Fire Co. #1, Macungie VFW Post 9264 and enjoyed regularly watching NASCAR and professional wrestling while downing a cold bottle of his favorite Rolling Rock.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.
He is survived by his wife; son, Gary V. Jr. and his wife, Angela (Farole); nieces; nephews; extended family. He was predeceased by six siblings.
Contributions may be made to the Lehigh Valley Humane Society and Vet Clinic, 640 Dixon St., Allentown, 18103.
Services will be held 11 a.m. July 12 in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 835 Third St., Whitehall, 18052 located three blocks north of the Fullerton Avenue exit of Route 22, where his family will receive guests beginning 10 a.m.
Arrangements were made by the Gilbert Funeral Home, Whitehall.
