UPPER MACUNGIE TWP: Upper Macungie Twp offering summer camps for kids

Upper Macungie Township Parks and Recreation, and Mad Science of the Lehigh Valley, will be offering two summer camps for kids ages 6-12 from 9 a.m. to noon at Lone Lane Park, 30 Lone Lane.
Campers in the Claws, Codes, and Constellations camp July 8-12 will discover how to send secret messages to their friends using special codes, learn more about how Newton’s laws impact their favorite sports, and explore the mysteries of the solar system.
Campers in the Brixology camp July 22-26 will use LEGO bricks to build a variety of engineering-themed projects in this specialty camp.
They will explore different engineering fields, including mechanical, structural, aerospace, nautical and bioengineering and use critical thinking and creative problem solving to test and improve their creations.
There is a per camper fee for Mad Science Camps.

Mighty Kicks, a premier introductory soccer program, will be offering a youth soccer program for children ages 2-7 from July 14-Aug. 18 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road at Pavilion No. 6 toward the back of the park.
Times are 1-1:30 p.m. for 2-year-olds; 1:40-2:20 p.m. for 3- to 4-year-olds; and 2:30-3:10 p.m. for 5- to 7-year-olds.
This program is designed to build motor skills, life skills, self-confidence and basic soccer techniques.

The township, in partnership with Mannered Mutts Dog Training, will be holding its Dog Training 101 class 6-7 p.m. on Thursdays July 11 to Aug. 15 at Ricky Park, 5875 Ricky Ridge Trail, Orefield.
This class offers a “whole dog” teaching approach by introducing new behavioral training skills as well as discussing proper nutrition for your furry friend.
Dogs will be leashed for the duration of the class.
The dog handler must be 18 years old and older but the entire family is welcome to attend and watch.
Vaccine records are required for each dog.

The township and Lehigh Valley Salsa Social will offer Salsa Til Sunset 4-7 p.m. July 7 and July 21 at Grange Park, 360 Grange Road at Pavilion No. 5.
Dancers of all levels are welcome to participate.
No need to bring a partner. Registration is not required.

Ziegels annual tractor show will be held 3-7 p.m. July 13 at Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville Road.
Come out to see awesome tractors, play yard games, hear live music, and eat great food to support Cub Scout Pack 61.
Live music will be provided by J-Tyme, which is a family bluegrass band.
There will even be a raffle basket drawing!

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, is cooking up a community free dinner 5 p.m. July 19.
Curbside pickup while meals last.
Vacation Bible School for kids ages 5-12 will take place 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 20.
This one-day program will be filled with stories, games, music, crafts, lunch and more.
Sign-up in the narthex by July 8. Teens may volunteer to be helpers.
