Tree planted in honor of former South Whitehall Twp police chief

Family members, friends and colleagues of former South Whitehall Township Police Chief Donald “Mac” MacConnell, gathered at the South Whitehall Township Building on June 3 to plant a tree in the memory of the former chief, who died Aug. 18, 2023.

Kathy McConnell, the chief’s widow, led off the memorial with a fond remembrance of her husband.

Former township Police Officers Douglas Kish, Mark Keeler and Ken Solomon, retired police chief of Alburtis, were among those attending the memorial.

Mark Keeler was an investigator in the South Whitehall Police Department during the tenure of the late Donald “Mac” MacConnell. Keeler was pleased to have served under MacConnell.
Toni Fillman, a colleague of the late South Whitehall Police Chief Donald “Mac” MacConnell, relayed how happy she was to work with the chief.
