Parkland graduate awarded KFC $20,000 college scholarship

Alexa Rosario, a 2024 graduate of Parkland High School and Lehigh Career and Technical Institute student, is one of 11 in the entire nation to win a $20,000 college scholarship in the Kentucky Fried Chicken annual scholarship competition.

Rosario has “early leave” from the high school so that she can work in the afternoons at Kentucky Fried Chicken, Whitehall, according to the news release.

Her store manager encouraged her to apply for the national scholarship and her creative video essay about what kind of food item on the menu she most associated with and why has won her the college scholarship.

Stephanie Barto, school to career coordinator at Lehigh Career and Technical Institute, offered the following comment to The Pres.

“Alexa’s manager Jamie, was also a co-op student at KFC when she was in high school,” Barto said. “KFC has been a proud partner of the LCTI School to Work department for over 15 years.

“We thank KFC Whitehall, Macarthur Road for their outstanding support of our students.”
