Meal includes half a Lorah’s chicken, baked potato, corn on the cob, pickled cabbage, roll and dessert.

Union Lutheran Church, 5500 Route 873, Schnecksville, will host a women’s retreat Aug. 3 with Laura Sommons as the featured speaker.

She conducts the online ministry, “Lavishly Loved.”

Her topic will be “Connecting One on One.”

Sommons’ background material includes this introduction to her message.

“The impact you make for Christ in the life of an individual is far more rewarding than the work of ministries itself.

Do we love our women in our church body? Do we even know them? Let’s learn the importance of connecting one on one.”

Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, will offer a Blessing of the Animals at the 10:30 a.m. service in the grove on July 14.

Bring your pet or a photo or other item to represent them for a blessing from the pastor.

The property committee at Union UCC reports the major improvement project for this year is refurbishing the 6,000 gallon oil tank which is more than 65 years old.

The committee was planning for this for two years.

The interior of the tank will be sand blasted and cleaned, then sprayed with a polyester blend resin to create a new rust free interior liner to prevent any future leaks.

The three-day project will conclude with covering the tank with existing ground, reinstalling the sidewalks, and refilling with oil for the next season.

Committee representatives report the endeavor is a proactive improvement to the church property to allow for the safe storage of oil in an underground tank.
