EHS names student of the week
Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?
A. I graduated from Emmaus High School in June.
Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets
A. My dad, Michael, my mom, Anna, my brother, Ryan and my sister, Leela.
Q. What was your favorite subject? Why?
A. My favorite subject was computer science because I enjoy the wide range of subareas that it includes. I also enjoy the problem solving aspect that comes with it and creating new programs.
Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?
A. I have received academic excellence awards in world studies, Algebra 2 and computer science throughout high school. I also received an excellence award in citizenship.
Q. Were you involved in any extracurricular activities? How did being involved in these organizations impact your high school experience?
A. At the high school, I was the mellophone section leader for marching band and dance captain for the spring musical productions. I also participated in National Honor Society, Tri-M Honor Society, Interact Club and brass ensemble. Outside of school, I take dance classes and have been involved in Girl Scouts. These organizations have helped me meet many different people that have became my close friends. Without these activities, I may have never met a lot of these people.
Q. What do you consider you biggest challenge to date?
A. I would say experiencing my first year of high school online due to COVID-19 was my biggest challenge
Q. What is your next goal after high school?
A. I am planning on attending Penn State main campus for computer science. I am hoping to get involved in some kind of research revolving around cybersecurity.
Q. Whom do you hope to emulate? Why?
A. I hope to emulate all of my female STEM teachers because they are strong-minded and inspire others to pursue a STEM career. I hope to inspire the next generation just like they did with mine.
Q. For what would you like to be remembered?
A. I want to be remembered for my hardworking attitude and my kindness after I leave the high school.
Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?
A. My advice is to get involved in many different activities. By being involved, you can learn so much about yourself and about hobbies that you might enjoy. On top of that you get to meet so many great people with similar interests.
