Paul C. Manwiller

Paul C. Manwiller, 93, died June 19, 2024, at Country Meadows of Allentown, surrounded by his family, Country Meadow’s family and friends. He was the husband of the late Frances (Graber) Manwiller for 70 years. They resided in Emmaus for 61 years. Born in Boyertown, he was the son of the late Walter Schlegel Manwiller and Emma (Hess) Manwiller.

He graduated from Boyertown High School and attended Penn State University, served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard.

He worked on the Schubert-Graber Farm in Zionsville. He had a long and successful career in the heavy-duty truck industry for more than 40 years.

He began his career with the former Berman Sales Co. and then spent 27 years with Air Products & Chemicals, where he worked as fleet maintenance manager. He was a founding member of the Lehigh Valley Fleet Maintenance Supervisors Association. He received several industry honors for his innovative approach to vehicle maintenance and management.

He was honored by Commercial Car Journal as Fleet Maintenance Executive of the Year in 1989.

He was an avid collector of trucking memorabilia and books. He published several books on the history of truck manufacturing.

He was one of the founding members of the America on Wheels Museum. He was happy to have had the opportunity to visit the museum again before his death.

He enjoyed meeting people, humbly sharing his thoughts on life, trucks and family history.

He and his wife were active members of St. Ann’s Church, Emmaus.

He was an avid woodworker, enjoyed bingo, country rides and gardening with friends at Country Meadows.

He is survived by daughters, Karen Hangey and her husband, Barry, of East Greenville and Sharon Ney and her husband, Thomas, of Loveland, Ohio; grandsons, Andrew Ney, Matthew Ney, Ryder Hangey.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. July 8 in the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Visitation will be held 10-10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
