BETHLEHEM AREA INDEPENDENCE DAY HAPPENINGS 2024

The City of Bethlehem will present its annual fireworks at approximately 9:15 p.m. Thursday, July 4 (weather permitting). In case of inclement weather, the fireworks will be held Friday, July 5th at approximately 9:15 p.m. Fired from Sand Island, the fireworks will be visible from various areas of the city particularly around the

City Center Plaza on East Church Street.

Prior to the fireworks display, the Bethlehem Municipal Band will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. at the City Center Plaza. To allow for safety during set-up of the display, all activity on Sand Island East will be closed to the public at 7:30 a.m. July 4.

A reminder from the Fire Marshal:

As of October 2017, consumer grade fireworks are legal to purchase and possess across the State of Pennsylvania. However, the use of fireworks remains limited by state law. In order to use consumer fireworks, a person must be 18 years of age or older, but a personmay not intentionally ignite or discharge consumer fireworks:

(1) Between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

(2) On public or private property without the express permission of the owner.

(3) Within or from a motor vehicle or building.

(4) Into or at a motor vehicle or buildingI or at another person.

(5) While the person is under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance or another drug.

(6) Within 150 feet of an occupied structure: A structure, vehicle or place adapted for overnight accomodations of persons for conducting business whether a person is actually present.

NMIH Horn And Whistle Recording Session: Celebrate the Fourth as factories, railroads and ships have: by sounding whistles and horns. Presentation by Brian Ferrence on the history of whistles used on steam locomotives. At noon, we will use compressed air to blow a variety of whistles and horns, each taking its turn so their unique sounds can be recorded.

Do you own a whistle or air horn that you would like to hear? If so, bring it in, and if it passes a safety review, we will do our best to pipe it in. All activities included with Museum admission. SteelStacks, 101 Founders Way: Free Independence Day festivities including a full afternoon of musical events. “Our Hometown Heroes” is free and open to the public through July 14. Embassy Bank presents about 1,500 photos of the soldiers, their rank, branch of service, era of service and hometown in appreciation and gratitude for their sacrifices and contributions. Wind Creek Deck: Ticketed exclusive access at 7 p.m. to Musikfest Cafe and Wind Creek Deck for the Fourth of July fireworks celebration. IronPigs’ “The Great American Blast” presented by TD Bank. 6 p.m.: Inflatable games, sack races, unlimited access to the Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital Kids Zone along with appearances by IronPigs mascots; Tootsee the Clown & Friends free balloon art. Live music by The Swing Time Dolls. Guests may be on the field before the show begins and before taking your seats in the seating bowl by 8:45 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. Cost for parking and admission.
