LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Wanderers playing well

The Wanderers haven’t missed a beat from where they left off last summer in NORCO.

The defending champs are acting like it again, leading the league with a 7-1-1 mark heading into this week’s action, as they’ve won five of their games by 10 runs or more.

Head coach Paul Walsh knows he’s been blessed with a talented roster of players looking to keep their run going.

“I am incredibly proud of our team thus far,” said Walsh. “Like most teams, we have to navigate the challenges of vacations, travel ball, job responsibilities and other things. However, our team has truly embodied the “next man in” mentality.”

Since losing to Northampton in their season opener on June 3, the Wanderers have gone unbeaten with three games left in the regular season against Freemansburg, Palmer and Hellertown, as they look to hold onto the top-seed.

East Stroudsburg and Northampton are both 6-2-1 and Freemansburg is 4-2-2 as the only teams that can realistically give the Wanderers a run for the top-seed heading into the playoffs.

Walsh is just happy that this year’s crop of players have carried forward the job of being the gem program in NORCO.

“As far as differences from last year’s team, I think this team is a bit younger overall,” Walsh said. “We certainly don’t lack experience, but there are a core group of younger guys that have had the opportunity to contribute in big ways which bodes well for the future.”
