Virginia H. “Ginny” Wetzel, 76, of Orefield, died June 14, 2024, Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She and her husband, Richard C. Wetzel, were married 45 years.
Born July 20, 1947, in Coaldale, Schuylkill County, and raised in Tamaqua, she was the daughter of the late Russell Lewis and Helene Josephine (Short) Kellner.
A graduate of St. Luke’s Hospital, School of Nursing, she was a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown, and the former Allentown Osteopathic Hospital for 30 years before retiring in 2004.
She was a member of Jordan United Church of Christ, South Whitehall.
An avid reader, she also enjoyed yard sales and photography.
She will be missed by all. Her kindness and unconditional love will be with her family forever.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by sons, Russel L. Bass and his wife, Cynthia, of Catasauqua, Robert C. Wetzel and his wife, Aladrian, of Bel Air, Md., and Richard C. Wetzel of Grand Junction, Colo.; sister Christine Whiting and her husband, Charles, of Columbia; brother-in-law Robert W. Wetzel of Schnecksville; and grandchildren Justin, Amber, Colin, Lizzy and Addie.
She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kaitlyn.
Her memorial service will be 11 a.m. June 28 at Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville.
Family and friends may pay their respects from 9:30-11 a.m. Friday before the service.
