Telford man charged in regards to bank robbery

A 40-year old Telford man is facing multiple charges including robbery in relation to a armed bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank, 120 College Drive, Allentown, and a report of an armed person at Muhlenberg College, which happened at the same time on May 6.

According to Lehigh County Criminal court records, Kareem Greene, is also charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, making terroristic threats, possession of a prohibited firearm, having a firearm without a license, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and simple assault in the May incident,

According to Capt. Kyle Pammer, administration with the Allentown Police Department, in a May 6 news release, around 12:15 p.m. police officers were dispatched to Muhlenberg College for a report of an armed person which was called in by an anonymous complainant.

In an abundance of caution, the college and local Allentown schools were placed on lockdown.

The Allentown Police Department and Muhlenberg College secured the area and determined the call was a hoax, Pammer said.

While police personnel were on scene investigating the false report of an armed person, officers were dispatched for a report of an armed robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank.

Officers arrived on scene and determined an armed robbery had just occurred.

According to Pammer, officers secured the scene.

Court records state Greene was taken into custody on June 20.

His preliminary arraignment was held the same day before Magisterial District Judge Linda D. Vega Sirop, Allentown.

Greene is in Lehigh County Jail on a $800,000 monetary bail, according to court records.

This is not the first time he has faced charges in relation to a bank robbery.

According to court records, in 2007, he was charged with robbery, felony in the first degree, robbery, felony in the second degree, conspiring to commit robbery, a felony, making terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, receiving stolen property, possessing an instrument of a crime with intent, misdemeanor in the first degree and simple assault, misdemeanor in the second degree.

Green’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:15 p.m. July 3 before Judge Sirop.
