With approval of the board at the May meeting, Parkland School District is all set for fuel costs during the 2024-25 term.

Director of Facilities and Operations Arthur Oakes said the board had agreed last November to participate in the Keystone Purchasing Network fuel oil/gasoline bids for the next school year.

Results were announced on May 1.

District costs will be $2.3281 per gallon for 52,500 gallons of unleaded gasoline 87 octane; $2.673 per gallon for 225,000 gallons of 82 diesel fuel; and $2.6070 per gallon for 90,000 gallons of heating oil.

In another matter, the board authorized the athletic department to purchase two 2024 Uforce 600 utility vehicles for use by the athletic training staff at a cost of $25,000, which will be reimbursed by St. Luke’s as part of its district sponsorship.

Looking ahead to new children’s reading programs, the board approved a quote of $19,526 from Great Minds PBC to provide professional development for the Wit and Wisdom elementary literacy series which will begin pre-implementation this fall.

Director of Elementary Teaching and Learning Kelly Rosario commented at the May committee meeting.

“Professional development prepares PSD’s elementary literacy leaders and 28 pre-implementing teachers for a smooth Wit and Wisdom rollout in the following years.”
