If you miss watching high school sports in the summer, have no fear, summer basketball league is here. The Salisbury High School boys and girls have the following games in the summer league.
Varsity boys play Brandywine 6 p.m. June 27 and Catasauqua 8 p.m. July 3. All games are at Whitehall School District. The Brandywine game is at the elementary school and the Catasauqua game is in the middle school.
SHS girls play at Percy Ruhe (Alton Park) 1519 Oxford Drive. Their schedule is 7:15 p.m. July 1 vs. Whitehall and 6:15 p.m. July 10 vs. Huskies.
The Wildlands Conservancy has fun events going on all summer. Some are only for a day, some for an entire week. Upcoming events in July include: Post-Volant Appalachian Bat Count 8:30-9:30 p.m. July 12, Firefly Fiesta 8-9 p.m. July 13 and Bird Walk and Avian Research at Totts Gap 9-11 a.m. July 27. Here is my annual pitch for local summer theater. This year the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival at DeSales University will perform Winnie-The-Pooh and Friends July 5 through Aug. 3. Their shows are interactive and so fun for the kids. They are also performing Shakespeare for Kids, a one-hour performance using puppets and songs to introduce kids to the entertaining world of William Shakespeare.
Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church’s Jerusalem Singers will hold its annual concert 7:30 p.m. July 31 in the sanctuary.
Yard waste drop-offs are open. The Franko site will be open June 27, 29 and July 8. Devonshire will be open July 1 and 6 (it will be closed July 4). As always, hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
