Richard Dee “Dick” Hartman, 85, of Lemon Grove, Calif., died June 14, 2024, at Paradise Valley Hospital, National City, Calif. He was the husband of the late JoAnn (Schisler) Hartman.
Born in Albuquerque, N.M., he was the son of the late William W. and Betty R. (Brandon) Hartman.
After graduating high school and taking some college courses, he joined the U.S. Army and served as a private first class from 1961 until 1964.
He was last employed as a bus driver for Grossmont Union High School District, La Mesa, Calif., for 10 years before retiring in 2012. Earlier, he was a salesman for Don Green Auto Parts and Accessories, Fullerton, Calif., for 21 years.
He was a longtime member of Lemon Grove Lutheran Church, Lemon Grove, Calif.
He was a former member of Over the Hill Gang of San Diego Car Club.
He is survived by two sons, John D. and wife Bushra of Spring Valley, Calif., and James L. and wife Rita of Klecknersville; two daughters, Dawn M. and husband Larry Otis of Imperial, Mo., and Juliette K. and husband Todd Theriac of Chula Vista, Calif.; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was predeceased by two grandsons, Adam and Chance.
