Coplay: Borough group to dissolve

Coplay Senior Citizens is dissolving after its July 3 meeting at Coplay Social Hall, 165 Cherry St. Doors open noon, with the meetings starting 1 p.m.

Attend the final meeting to express and appreciate all the group has done for its members.

Reminder: Coplay Garden Club will meet 7 p.m. June 27 in the social hall at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St.

Here’s a tip of the month from the club: “Be alert to plant fungus, mites, spiders and other pests. Treat accordingly, and give extra water to plants during heat waves.”

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., continues its Friday night concert series. The schedule includes Triple Dog Dare June 28, American Street Band July 5, Smith Compound Band July 12, Ricky and the Rebels July 19 and Bad Influence July 26.

Doors open 5 p.m. There is a cover charge.

Redeemed Christian Church of God, 5 N. Third St., will hold the Praise Arena’s 20th anniversary and ribbon-cutting celebration and dedication. The theme of the celebration is “Expressions of Supernatural Grace.”

Events will include an anniversary concert 7 p.m. June 28, an anniversary service and banquet noon June 29 and then a thanksgiving event 10:45 a.m. June 30.

The borough’s twilight summer concert series is held 6-9 p.m. at Coplay Community Plaza, North Second and Chestnut streets. Performing will be Rock Steady July 3 and Steve Brosky and Jimmy Meyers July 31.

The Coplay Saengerbund will be holding its dining on the terrace events July 10 and 24 and Aug. 21. Scott Erikson will play an acoustic set 6-9 p.m.

Doors open 5 p.m., and the kitchen is open 5-8:30 p.m. There is no cover charge.

Season passes are still available for the Coplay municipal pool. Come stay cool and enjoy the variety of food, ice cream, drinks and more available at the concession stand.

Hometown Hero banner applications are available at the borough office. Publicly honor your war heroes and first responders - police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel - with a banner.

If your child or grandchild is a resident of Coplay, has graduated from high school in 2024 and is planning to attend college, university, trade school or the police academy, consider applying for a Coplay Scholarship Fund scholarship.

Two $5,000 scholarships will be awarded in 2024. To get an application, send an email to billleiner@aol.com.

Coplay Food Bank, in the lower level of the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St., is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month. If unable to attend the Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.

Explorer Post 101’s mission is to promote interest in model railroading to 12-21 year olds.

Meetings are set for 7-9 p.m. every Thursday on the second floor of the municipal building.
