Abusive prevention policy adopted

An amendment to the township’s codes and ethics handbook for employees was subject to a brief discussion at the start of the Upper Milford’s Supervisors’ June 20 meeting.

Township Secretary/Treasurer Jessi O’Donald explained the amendment to add an abusive prevention policy was strongly recommended by the insurance company. In answering a question from Chair John Zgura, O’Donald confirmed the township has never had an issue in the past and never a policy this detailed.

Township Solicitor Marc Fisher added this protects township employees, as well as those who could make allegations in the future.

After a brief discussion between supervisors and residents on whether this was needed and to the extent proposed, the policy was adopted.

Planning Coordinator Brian Miller explained the background of the well isolation distance waiver for 3222 Faith Dr.

According to Miller, the first installation of a septic system for the property dates to 1982. The second was in 1987. With improvements to the property and updated regulations, a waiver from the supervisors is requested for the installation of a new system.

Zgura raised a few technical concerns, specifically pertaining to water testing. Miller reassured the supervisors this new system is an advanced one. Maintenance and inspection will be yearly.

Supervisors approved time extensions for two projects by Kay Builders, one for FIC Phase 3 and one for Jasper Ridge Road, which Supervisor Angela Ashbrook voted against.

Both projects now have an extension until Aug. 7, 2025.

The next board of supervisors meeting is scheduled 7 p.m. July 18 at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St., Zionsville.
