Volunteer opportunities

YLEAD is a leadership and service program for Lehigh Valley high school students (entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the fall) hosted by Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. Participants in the program develop critical leadership skills while working to support nonprofit organizations through service projects. Open session is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8-12. Cyberchance is dedicated to empowering at-risk, underrepresented and justice-impacted individuals by providing comprehensive cybersecurity training, mentorship and career development opportunities. Mentors are needed to help them succeed in the cybersecurity certification program as well as develop team, leadership and career building skills. Meet new people, make new friends and most of all provide Lehigh Valley seniors with a lifeline to medical appointments, grocery stores or to visit a loved one. Coordinated by Independent Transportation Network Lehigh Valley. Choose the times, days and areas you wish to drive. Must have own vehicle and clean driving record. Minimum age to volunteer is 24. The mission of ProJeCt of Easton is to build a better community by helping people help themselves with the skills and knowledge necessary to break the cycle of poverty, achieve their aspirations and foster positive change in their lives. A certified sign language tutor is needed to work with a non-hearing student 10 a.m. to noon (once a week or more) Monday through Thursday. The kitchen hospitality team at Ripple Community Inc., Allentown, offers community members snacks and coffee, as well as providing basic kitchen cleaning and organizing of food donations. In collaboration with all volunteers and staff, circulate throughout the center to generally ensure the space is welcoming, safe and clean. In a world where access to fresh, locally grown produce is more crucial than ever, your contribution matters more than you know. Join Second Harvest Food Bank at the Seed Farm in Emmaus to grow and harvest produce for local pantries 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Minimum age to volunteer is 16 with an adult. There is an urgent need for foster families in the greater Lehigh Valley. Folks of all different backgrounds, walks of life and skills are needed at The Salvation Army Foster Care & Adoption Services to join the Ambassadors Committee which spearheads and facilitates outreach and recruitment ideas/opportunities to raise awareness of this need.
