Hawk Mountain offers nature programs in June

Hawk Mountain, 1700 Hawk Mountain Road, Kempton, will offer the following programs, events in June.

·Raptor Field Techniques Course, June 20-23

There is a fee for the program.

Build confidence in your raptor field techniques and learn all about trapping methods, handling, banding, blood sampling, broadcast call surveys, telemetry and more.

No experience necessary.

·Hope Hill Lavender Farm Member Mixer, 6-8 p.m. June 27

There is a fee for this member exclusive event.

Take in the incredible view from atop Hope Hill Lavender Farm, meet the owners and learn about their homemade items.

Meet a Hawk Mountain feathered educator and enjoy a light dinner prepared by the Brickhouse Grill.

·Vulture Encounter, 10 a.m. to noon June 28

There is a fee for this member exclusive event.

Meet a live black vulture, enjoy light snacks, then head to the seminar room for a personal update on findings in the field from scientists.

·Butterfly Survey, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 29

Join a naturalist in the garden to participate in Hawk Mountain’s annual free North American Butterfly Association Fourth of July butterfly survey.

Scan and identify butterfly species visiting the Native Habitat Garden and learn about their role in the ecosystem and relationships with host plants.

·Rainbow Trail Days, June 29–30

Show your pride by wearing rainbow apparel or accessories and receive half off trail admission.

Members wearing rainbow colors will receive a 15% discount in the Mountain Bookstore.

Registration is required to attend the Raptor Field Techniques Course, Hope Hill Lavender Farm Member Mixer, Vulture Encounter and Butterfly Survey.

·Animal Kingdom summer camp June 24-28.

Discover the animal kingdom through crafts, games, special guests, and of course live animals during this week-long adventure.

Students in grades 4-6 attend 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Students in grades 1-3 attend 8:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There is a cost for the camp.
