Get relief from the heat

Travel over to the western side of Salisbury this week to beat the heat. The sprinkler at Lindberg Park will be turned on 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through June 21.

The summer movie series is back at the AMC in the Promenade. See a different movie every week for a very discounted price on Monday and Wednesday. The first movies are playing June 24 and 26 and it will be “Minions: The Rise of Gru” followed by Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax” July 1 and 3. One fun way to beat the heat this summer.

St. Luke’s University Health Network will offer free sports physicals to Salisbury High School student athletes. You must register for an appointment and bring completed Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, Inc. forms to the event. The event will be held at Coca-Cola Park 2-6:45 p.m. June 25 and July 16 and 2-5:45 p.m. July 30. Eastern Salisbury Fire Department is holding a fundraiser and raffling off a 36-inch Blackstone griddle and accessories. Visit the ESFD Facebook page for the link and QR code to purchase tickets or talk to your closest member.

Salisbury football will sponsor a golf outing Aug. 10 at the Wedgewood Golf Course. Entry includes 18 holes of golf with cart, welcome bag, hot dog, beverages and snacks at the turn, an awards buffet dinner as well as prizes and contests. The township yard waste drop off sites are open. The Devonshire site will be open June 20 and 22 and the Franko site will be open June 24, 27 and 29. The sites are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

There are many events scheduled at the Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown.

Enjoy fire truck story time with Allentown’s Fire Chief Freddie Agosto and learn the importance of safety 10 a.m. June 20.

Children can read to therapy dogs 2 p.m. June 20 and July 11.

Children 7 and under and their parents/caregivers are invited to the library 10 a.m. Fridays through Aug. 2 for Art Exploration.

Students age 8 and up are invited to STEM Saturday 2-3 p.m. June 22 where they can practice their technology skills as they explore snap circuits and make paper circuits.

Teens 12 and up can share their favorite creepy pasta around a mock campfire and scare their friends 3-4 p.m. June 24.

Tinkering Tuesday is 10 a.m. June 25. Explore robots and other components in science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Cooking with kids is held 2 p.m. Tuesdays at the library.

The Outdoor Club explores the outdoors at the library: Wow your senses June 19, butterflies June 26, soil and worms July 3, composting July 10, fireflies July 17, plants July 24 and leaves July 31.
