Young team won 16 games

The Parkland High School softball team had a successful 2024 season, finishing with a 16-7 overall record and a 13-3 mark in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference while earning a share of the West Division title with rival Emmaus. The Trojans qualified for both the EPC and District 11 6A playoffs, winning a game in EPCs before falling in the semifinal round before losing in their opening game in the district tournament. Parkland had just two seniors on the 2024 roster in Hana Damra and Morgan Schult. Head coach Barry Search is satisfied with what his young and inexperienced team accomplished in 2024. He’s also excited about what he has to look forward to heading into next season. “I thought the year went quite well,” said Search. “Having one senior starter, I thought a lot of the younger kids played well. I think the outlook on everything was positive and if they carry it over to next year it’ll be a good year.” Sometimes when asked what the favorite game or moment of a season is, coaches mention beating a rival in a big game or winning a postseason game. But Search had another instance that stuck out in his mind. It had to do with one of his players that did whatever was asked of her and was the prototypical team player. “During the Easton game this year, we pitched a sophomore late in the game and she did a great job,” Search said. “Late in the game in the sixth, they started hitting our starter hard. We brought in Aubrey Wilson, who the team likes to call “Miss Versatility,” and she shut them down and helped us earn the victory. It’s instances like that that make us proud to be coaches.” The 2025 season and beyond looks bright for Parkland, which is set to return eight starters from this season, including First Team All-EPC designated player Maria Moore and All-EPC Second Team utility player Alison Hunsberger.
