Oswald steps down as girls soccer coach
After nine seasons and 130 wins, Emmaus High School girls soccer head coach Sarah Oswald has stepped down.
“I can’t say enough positive words about coach Oswald and what she has accomplished and meant to the athletic program here at Emmaus,” said EHS Director of Athletics Rebecca George in a news release sent last week. “All that she and her staff have contributed to the East Penn soccer community is significant. I wish coach Oswald well and have full confidence that she will do a spectacular job in her new role. She absolutely will be missed by the players and many others here at Emmaus.”
Oswald’s teams went 130-60-12 during her tenure while qualifying for district playoffs all nine seasons and reaching three league title games and three district title games. She coached 30 players that went on to compete at the college level, including three players either currently playing or committed to the US Military Academy at West Point.
A former all-star player at Emmaus, Oswald was a four-year All-PSAC selection at West Chester University and the PSAC East Womens Soccer Player of the Year during her final college season.
She is leaving to pursue a professional opportunity.
“Emmaus girls soccer has been a large part of who I am for 21 years, both as a player and as a coach,” Oswald said per the news release. “It has been an incredible journey leading and growing in my time at Emmaus High School. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together, and it is with a heavy heart that I step down from my role.
“The support from players, staff, and the community has been overwhelming, and I am grateful for the experiences and relationships I have built here. I’ve had the privilege to learn from a fabulous group of players about kindness, compassion, and a general love for one another.
“I am excited for the next chapter and the new opportunities that lie ahead. While I will miss Emmaus girls soccer, I am confident they will continue to thrive and achieve great things. I look forward to supporting the team from afar and witnessing their continued success.”
