Zephs only local team to pick up win last week

It was a bit of a struggle for the Press’ local teams last week.

Catasauqua, Northampton and Whitehall all suffered losses at Cedar Beach in summer basketball action.

For Catty, it fell to Salisbury 59-51 as the Falcons were led by Drew Petrie’s 19 points. The loss was the first for the Rough Riders this summer, making them 3-1 on the season. The Falcon win also put them at 3-1, trailing unbeaten Warren Hills, which was 3-0.

As for the K-Kids, they dropped to 3-1 as well, suffering their first loss of the season at the hands of Allen in a 61-39 game. Manny Polanco paced the Canaries with 22 points.

Whitehall fell to 1-3 on the season as they lost a tight game 50-49 to Dieruff. The Huskies were paced by Alphie Deris’ 19 points.

The Zephs did pick up the only win among the three teams, a 65-45 win on June 4 over Bangor. No high scorer was listed for the Zephyrs.
