Valley Cup baseball team falls to Chester
The 2024 Lehigh Valley Carpenter Cup team was hoping to not repeat the same outcome they’ve endured the past two seasons, but Monday’s opener against Chester County in the single elimination tournament proved to be the end for this year’s group.
Chester County took care of business at Richie Ashburn Complex at FDR Park in Philadelphia with a 7-2 victory in the all-star game.
Chester broke open the score with two runs in the fourth, four in the fifth and another in the sixth before the Lehigh Valley squad crossed two in the seventh.
Nine players from Bethlehem Catholic, Liberty and Freedom highlighted this year’s team, led by Liberty pitcher Noah Gyauch-Quirk.
The Carpenter Cup semifinals are set for June 24 with the finals schedule for June 25 at Citizens Bank Park.
