Jacqueline Elizabeth Wehr
Jacqueline Elizabeth “Jackie” Wehr, 82, of Whitehall Township, died May 24, 2024, in Lehigh Valley Inpatient Hospice Unit.
Born in Bethlehem, she was the only daughter of the late John F. and Irene R. (Papp/Bobb) Nemeth.
She and her husband, Dr. William H. Wehr, were married 59 years.
A graduate of Central Catholic High School, she started work at Bethlehem Steel, was later employed at IBM, and in the Human Resources Department of Lehigh Valley Hospital for more than 20 years.
She was talented at several hobbies including baking, embroidery, knitting and quilting - some of which earned her blue ribbons at The Great Allentown Fair.
As a Master Gardener, her greatest joy was her extraordinary garden on Loral Lane, Orefield, which she created with her husband.
She was proud of her Hungarian ancestry, and those who knew her recognized that in her personality.
She loved spending time at the beach in Chincoteague, Va., and, together with her husband, was lucky to travel to all corners of the globe.
She was a regular volunteer helping at Second Harvest Food Bank, Prayers and Squares, and repairing homes after Hurricane Katrina.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Allison Wehr Elterich (Stefan Elterich) and Lori Young (Jonathan Young); and grandchildren Ethan, Arden and Asa Elterich.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Tyler Young.
Her memorial service will be 3 p.m. June 20 at Jordan United Church of Christ Church, 1837 Church Road, Allentown. Visitation from 2:30-3 p.m. at the church.
