VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

YLEAD is a leadership and service program for Lehigh Valley high school students (entering 10th, 11th or 12th grade in the fall) hosted by Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. Participants in the program develop critical leadership skills while working to support nonprofit organizations through service projects. Open session is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8-12. Sangria Fest is back at Grange Park, Upper Macungie, June 15. Hosted by ArtsQuest, Sangria Pourers (minimum age 21) and ticket scanners (minimum age 16) are needed 2:30-7:30 p.m. to help make this community event a success. The Boys & Girls Club of Allentown seeks summer program volunteers to help implement a diverse, safe and fun variety of educational and recreational programs and activities for youth. Volunteers may work in different program areas as needed, including delivering educational and mentoring programs and activities in the areas of arts, sports, fitness and more. Be a buddy to a camper (ages 6-19) with special needs (or one of their siblings) during Camelot for Children’s summer camp 7:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, June 17 to July 26 and have fun enriching their lives with outdoor activities while keeping them safe. Adults and youth 12 years or older are welcome to help enrich the lives of children with special needs at 2354 W. Emmaus Ave., Allentown. Community Service Hours are available. The National Youth Bike Summit hosted by Community Bike Works is being held at Muhlenberg College June 14-16 and needs volunteers for a variety of shifts and tasks from assisting with registration, directing attendees to appropriate buildings, managing the bicycle check out/check in process to chaperoning a fun youth event. Grace Community Foundation food pantry in Allentown distributes food every Friday, and the third and fourth Saturday every month. Looking for small groups or individuals to bag and distribute groceries and cleanup. The hours are 8:45-11:15 a.m. each day. Community service hours are available. The Whitehall Historical Preservation Society needs volunteers to assist with basic maintenance projects both inside and outside (weather permitting). Looking for a fun and engaging activity with friends, why not become a Zoellner Arts Center volunteer usher? Hosting over 250 events a year including many student club activities, as well as campus and community events, volunteer for at least five events a season, mostly nights and weekends.
