Martin A. Connolly, 81, of Walnutport, died peacefully at home June 3, 2024. He was the husband of the late Christina “Carol” Connolly for 52 years.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., he was the son of the late Matthew and Grace (Bernstein) Connolly.
He was a truck driver for more than 50 years, last driving for New Wave Transport, out of Somerset, N.J.
Before retiring in 2013, he was very involved with A.A.-Blue Mountain Gratitude Group, Slatington, ultimately achieving 42 years of sobriety. He utilized his time in A.A. to support and guide others as they achieve and maintain their own sobriety.
He is survived by two sons, Matthew Hopkins of Milltown, N.J., and Marty Connolly and wife Dorothy of Walnutport; two daughters, Christy and husband Peter Kady of Jamesburg, N.J., and Beth Anne Connolly and husband Bernard Thompson of Haines City, Fla.; a sister, Carolann and husband Ronald Foster of Lufkin, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Sara, Justin, Ashley, Caitlin, Ashley, Nicole, Danielle, Noah and Benjamin; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Robert Hopkins; a brother, Robert; and a sister, Eileen Depping.
