Slippery Rock University

Hale, Huymaier earn dean’s list

Slippery Rock University has announced Makenzie Hale and Andrew Huymaier, both of Northampton, have earned dean’s list for the spring 2024 semester. The dean’s list consists of SRU undergraduate students who earned an adjusted semester grade-point average of 3.5 or higher, based on a schedule of at least 12 newly attempted and earned credits.

Slippery Rock University is a four-year, public, coeducational, regional comprehensive university that offers a broad array of undergraduate and select graduate programs to more than 8,000 students. SRU is one of 10 institutions and 14 campuses that make up Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education. SRU is fully accredited by the Middle State Commission on Higher Learning.

Students named to dean’s list

Students at Lehigh University attained dean’s list in spring 2024. This status is granted to students who earned a scholastic average of 3.6 or better while carrying at least 12 hours of regularly graded courses.

Lebanon Valley College

Dean’s list is announced

Lebanon Valley College congratulates the more than 800 students named to the dean’s list for the spring 2024 semester. Dean’s list students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4 out of 4.0.

Bath: Cody Schucker, a graduate of Northampton Area High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in exercise science.

Coplay: Syenna Young, a graduate of Whitehall High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English; Andrew Rowland, a graduate of Parkland High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in exercise science.

Northampton: Payton Huff, a graduate of Northampton Area High School, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in actuarial science; Tyler Kauffman, a graduate of Northampton Area High School, is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science.

Whitehall: Megan Kelly, a graduate of Whitehall High School, is pursuing a Master of Science in speech-language pathology

Lebanon Valley College, founded in 1866, offers 50 majors in the health professions, sciences, business and digital media, arts and humanities and education. Hands-on learning, internships and research are emphasized. LVC offers five direct-entry (bachelor’s to master’s) programs in accounting/MBA 3+1, athletic training 3+2, clinical mental health counseling 3+2, engineering 3+2 and speech-language pathology 3+2 and a nationally recognized six-year doctor of physical therapy program. There are more than a dozen graduate degrees, including an MBA and master’s in clinical mental health counseling, education, exercise science and intelligence and security studies.

Close faculty-student relationships and mentoring are hallmarks of the LVC experience on its 370-acre campus. The college encourages student participation in athletics, with 40% competing as NCAA Division III student-athletes in the Middle Atlantic Conference, and student leadership and involvement in more than 90 clubs and organizations, many of which are community-service focused. LVC offers generous financial aid and guaranteed merit scholarships that exceeded $52 million in 2023-24. Career success is integrated into the curriculum through the Edward and Lynn Breen Center for Career and Professional Development starting during the first year on campus.

James Madison University

Schmeckenbecher graduates

Graydon Schmeckenbecher, of Whitehall, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in political science from James Madison University during commencement exercises in May 2024. Schmeckenbecher was among more than 4,482 students who received undergraduate and graduate degrees.

James Madison University

Morrow, Schmeckenbecher named to dean’s list

Northampton resident Angelina Morrow and Whitehall resident Graydon Schmeckenbecher have been named to the dean’s list at James Madison University for the spring 2024 semester. Students who earn dean’s list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA between 3.5 and 3.899.

Morrow is majoring in health sciences, and Schmeckenbecher earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science.

In the spring 2024 semester, 1,987 students have been named to the dean’s list at Kutztown University. To be eligible for this honor, an undergraduate student must be registered for at least 12 credits and have a minimum GPA of 3.6.

Diem named to dean’s list

Evan Diem, of Coplay, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2024 semester at Grove City College.

Diem is a chemistry major.

He is a 2023 homeschool graduate and the son of Dr. and Mrs. Conrad Diem (Lucinda).

Students eligible for the dean’s list have a GPA of 3.4 to 3.59.

Dean’s list is announced

Justin Fry, of Northampton, and Kyle Dougherty, of Whitehall, have been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2024 term at University of Maryland Global Campus.

To be eligible for the honor, a student must have completed at least six credits during the term, earned a grade-point average of at least 3.5 for the term and maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

University of Maryland Global Campus was founded more than 75 years ago to serve the higher education needs of working adults and military service members. Today, UMGC is the largest provider of postsecondary education in Maryland and continues its global tradition with online and hybrid courses, more than 175 classroom and service locations worldwide and more than 135 degrees and certificates backed by the reputation of a state university and the University System of Maryland.

Paul Smith’s College

McDonald earns degree, honors

Paul Smith’s College is pleased to announce Alexis Grace McDonald, of Walnutport, graduated in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in environmental sciences.

McDonald was also named to the Adirondack Scholars and dean’s list honors for spring 2024.
