Locals Roselle, Zabala in Malta for coursework
East Stroudsburg University students Edward Rozelle, a senior majoring in marketing from Hanover Township, and Antonio Zabala, of Bethlehem, recently focused their coursework on Malta as a global leader in tourism. On May 1, the Innovation & Product Development class members and fellow students gave presentations to H.E. Ambassador Vanessa Frazier, Malta’s Permanent Representative to the U.N., at the Maltese Embassy.
Greg Takehara, CEO of Tourism Cares, a United States Tour Operators Association nonprofit initiative, was in attendance. He mentored the projects which were in line with the mission of responsible tourism and the Tourism Cares Meaningful Travel Map.
Student groups created forward thinking and mindful business models for Malta, and the world, with a focus on sustainability and responsible travel, Takehara noted.
Issues such as overtourism, environmental threats, cultural dissemination and waste were examined. The students presented new methods based on technology, program, and product design to ensure business is conducted well.
