BASD’s Clymer earns national award

The Bethlehem Area School District has announced that the district’s communication coordinator, Barbara Clymer, is one of 27 who have been nominated for the National School Communicator of the Year Award. In its initial year, the award is being presented by the National School Public Relations Association.

Clymer, who was Pennsylvania’s 2023 Communicator of the Year, has been nominated by the Pennsylvania School Public Relations Association for the national recognition.

She is a 37-year employee of the BASD, and began her career in human resources. “I’m built by Bethlehem,” says Clymer, who attended elementary school in the same building where she works today. She also attended Northeast MS and graduated from Liberty HS. “I started here and will eventually retire from here,” she adds.

BASD superintendent Dr. Jack Silva says he is “excited to see Barbara Clymer’s exceptional work recognized on a national stage, and her effective communication has been instrumental in promoting collaboration and unity within our school community.”

“I love what I do and I’m so happy,” says Clymer. “I’m proud of my school district,” she emphasizes.

Clymer says she hopes to attend NSPR ’s national seminar in Seattle this July.
