Gladys Irene Hilbert, born Gladys Irene George on Sept. 10, 1937, in Allentown, died May 30, 2024, under hospice care at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, Port Charlotte, Fla.

She and her husband were members of Calvary Baptist Church, Englewood, Fla.

She loved her church and was very strong in her faith.

A very supportive Navy wife for 23 years, she stood by her husband through his military service.

She enjoyed walking on the beach and collecting shells.

A beloved wife and mother, she would do anything for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Alfred Hilbert; her daughter Sherry Schmidt; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Grant and Beatrice (Pierce) George; brothers Leroy, Delnore and Elwood; sister Marietta; and son Shawn.

May she rest in peace.

Her service will be at 11 a.m. June 7 in Keller Funeral Home, 1018 Church St., Fogelsville, with visitation 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Interment at Laurel Cemetery, Whitehall.
