Dale A. Lakatosh Sr.

Dale A. Lakatosh Sr., 91, of Lehighton, formerly of Walnutport, died on June 2, 2024, in his residence.

He was the husband of the late Eleanor E. (Snyder) Lakatosh.

Born Aug. 26, 1932, in Slatington, he was the son of the late Joseph Lakatosh Sr. and Cora M. (Valora) Lakatosh.

A graduate of the first class of Parkland High School in 1950, he retired from the U.S. Air Force with a rank of Master Sgt. after 21 years of service to his country during the Korean and Vietnam War eras.

After completing his service, he was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for 10 years, then became a supervisor at the Bethlehem Post Office for six years and later the Lehighton Post Office for four years before retiring.

Active in the life of his church and community, he was a member of Weisenberg Lutheran Church, New Tripoli, life member of the Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16, Slatington, life member of the former Vernon G. Kern VFW Post 8344, Schnecksville, life member of the Weisenberg Lowhill Historical Society, and Slatington Lodge 440, F.&A.M.

His survivors include children Debra A. Lakatosh (William Unger) of Fogelsville, Kathy J. Lakatosh, with whom he resided in Lehighton, Dale A. Lakatosh Jr. (Gina) of Slatington; brother David L. Lakatosh Sr. of Schnecksville; grandchildren Leah M. and Dale A. Lakatosh III, Benjamin J. Hauser (Nicole) and Samuel N. Hauser; step-grandchildren David Adams (Krystina), and Tanya and Tyler Adams; two step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by siblings Edward J. Sr., Dean K. Sr., Denton K., Joseph Jr., Robert A., Darwin and Dorothy Lakatosh.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. June 6 at Weisenberg Lutheran Church, 7645 Weisenberg Church Road, New Tripoli, with the Rev. Brandon M. Heavner officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9-10:50 a.m. Thursday at church.

Interment with full military honors will be 2 p.m. Friday in the adjacent church cemetery.
