North Catasauqua: Willowbrook Road area closed

The Willowbrook Road bridge closed for construction June 5 with a tentative reopening in mid-October. The detour uses Savage Road, Route 329, Weaversville Road, Route 987 and Race Street.

Chromfest will be held 4-7 p.m. June 8 at North Catasauqua William J. Albert Memorial Park, 701 Grove St., to raise funds for the ALS care of resident Christine Chromiak. Live music will be provided by Brad Read, Glenn Longenhagen, Matt Day and Coulda Shoulda Woulda.

The 117th anniversary of the incorporation of North Catasauqua is June 11. Happy birthday, small Town USA!

The 18th annual North Catasauqua Betterment Committee’s North Catasauqua small Town USA Carnival is scheduled for 6-10 p.m. June 12-15 at the park. There will be food, games, rides and live music 6:30-9:30 p.m. nightly, including Ricky Smith and the Crush June 12, Third Hand Trio June 13, Waitin’ on Sundown June 14 and Flirtin’ with the Mob June 15.

A four-day ride wristband is available June 12. Specially priced wristbands will be available June 13 and 15.

The next borough council meeting will be held 7 p.m. June 17 in the basement-level meeting room at borough hall, 1066 Fourth St.

Registration is open for North Catasauqua’s summer park Pop Up and Play program, which will be run by Suburban North Family YMCA. The program will be held 9:30 a.m.-noon Mondays through Fridays June 17-Aug. 2 for youth entering kindergarten through sixth grade.

The registration package is available on the North Catasauqua Recreation Committee Facebook page and should be returned to the YMCA.

Teen mentorship opportunities are available.

Registration is open for the wiffle ball program, set to run 1-3 p.m. June 17-Aug. 2 at the park. There will be no program the week of July 4.

The free program is available for those who completed kindergarten through 17 years old.

The North Catasauqua summer cornhole league will hold registration 6 p.m. June 20 at the park for six weeks of competition and two tournaments. Participants must be at least 16 years old.

The league will play 6 p.m. Thursdays June 20- Aug. 15 at the park.
