Egypt/Cementon: VFW Post 7293 plans concerts, workshop

Musicians are invited to jam with the Benny Band 7 p.m. June 6 at Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293, 5209 Springmill Road.

The VFW will also host Bobby Soul and the Soul Searchers June 7, Mike Sherer June 13, Jack Murray and the Blue Tarp Wranglers June 14, the Buzz Band June 14, Whiskey Mansion June 21 and Trick Stacy June 29. Concerts begin 7 p.m.

Members attend for free, but there is a cost for guests.

Other events at the VFW include music bingo 7 p.m. June 12, 19 and 26 and a mushroom terrarium lamp workshop, set for 6:30 p.m. June 28.

Register for Camp Whitehall and purchase pool passes 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. June 6 and 7 at the township building, 3219 MacArthur Road.

Pool passes will be available 11 a.m.-2 p.m. June 9-23 at Parkview Pool, 3051 S. Fifth St., Hokendauqua. After June 23, email bhibbler@whitehalltownship.com to purchase a pass.

Camp Whitehall registration is available by appointment 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Email bhibbler@whitehalltownship.com to schedule an appointment.

The youth group of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church is running a clothing drive through June 15. Bring your new or gently used clean clothing, shoes, purses, belts, bed and bath linens and stuffed animals to the rear lobby off the church parking lot, 4331 Main St., Egypt. Shoes must be bagged separately.

Items will be donated to local thrift shops.

Camp Whitehall will be held at Hokendauqua Playground, 3417 Lehigh St., for kindergarten to sixth-grade students. The camp will be held 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays from June 17 to Aug. 2.

There is no busing to or from camp. Bring a lunch and drinks. There is a cost.

The summer session of aqua aerobics will be held 5:45-6:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays June 18-Aug. 8 at Parkview Pool. There is a cost.

Whitehall’s summer concert series begins with a performance by the Large Flowerheads 6-9 p.m. June 22 at Whitehall Parkway, 4689 S. Church St.

Registration is open for children, ages 3 to those completing sixth grade, for Scuba Vacation Bible School at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. VBS will be held 6-8:30 p.m. June 24-28.

Children will experience a splash-tastic adventure filled with hands-on science experiments, team-building games, Bible songs and treats.

The Cement Belt Fair will take place 6-10 p.m. June 25-29 at Cementon Park, 5185 Dewey St. Admission is free, but there is a cost for on-site parking, games, rides, food and beverages.

Featured entertainment includes magician Tom Yurasits and ventriloquist Scott Wagstaff June 25, Mystic Hounds Duo June 26, The Buzz June 27, Maddie Pearl and Christina’s Reptile and Animal Sanctuary exhibit June 28 and fireworks and a performance by Flirtin’ with the Mob June 29.
