The Parkland baseball team drew a tough matchup for the first round of the East Penn Conference playoffs. After going 15-5 overall and 12-4 in league play, Parkland entered the league tournament as the No. 5 seed with a first-round game against defending league and district champion Liberty (16-5; 13-3), which earned the No. 4 seed. A four-run third inning helped the Hurricanes gain a 6-run lead before winning 6-2. The Trojans, who committed three errors in the loss, scored both of their runs in the seventh inning. Will Dobil had two of Parkland’s five hits in the game. Parkland will enter next week’s District 11 Class 6A playoffs as the No. 3 seed with a likely quarterfinal matchup against Freedom (12-8). The EPC playoffs were suspended Tuesday after No. 7 Bethlehem Catholic beat No. 3 Nazareth in one semifinal. The Golden Hawks will meet either Liberty or No. 1 Pocono Mountain West in the championship game, slated for Friday at 7 p.m. at DeSales University.
