EHS falls to Easton in girls lacrosse semifinal

In the rubber match between the Emmaus and Easton High School girls lacrosse teams this season, the Red Rovers got the better of the Hornets in the latest matchup and won the overall series. Easton also continued its season as it took down Emmaus 12-10 last Monday night, May 20, in the District 11 3A semifinal round at Northampton High School’s Al Erdosy Stadium.

It was the second straight year that the two teams met in both the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and District 11 tournaments, with Emmaus winning the conference matchup in the semifinals both years and Easton taking both district semifinal games.

Easton won the only regular season meeting between the two teams, 10-9, back on March 21. Emmaus then got the better of the Red Rovers 10-6 in the EPC semis. This time around, however, Easton did a better job of putting the ball in the back of the net and doubling its total from the last matchup.

Abby DiComes led the attack for the Hornets with three goals and an assist. Olivia Schmidt, Melea Weber and Bri McClain each finished with one goal and one assist. Sarah Gross and Taylor Younker rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece, while Jordyn Poll contributed an assist. Alani Shotwell made eight saves in net for the Green Hornets.

Emmaus finished its 2024 season at 13-8 overall. Easton went on to fall to Pleasant Valley in the district title game.
