Robert A. Nagle

Robert A. “Bob” Nagle, 92, retired superintendent of the Northwestern Lehigh School District died on May 20, 2024.

The husband of the late Gloria M. (Yeager) Nagle for 61 years, he was a resident of New Tripoli since 1972.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Lillian E. (Hensinger) Nagle.

He was a 1950 graduate of Allentown High School, a graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees and was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Tau Chapter.

In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War aboard the U.S. Bon Homme Richard from 1950-54 and earned the rank of 3rd Class aviation machinist.

After military service, he started his teaching career at Easton Area High School

He was director of the Eastern Northampton County Technical School before becoming a founding director of LCTI, formerly Lehigh County Vocational-Technical School.

He retired as superintendent from Northwestern Lehigh School District in 1986.

After retirement, he became a self-employed consultant which took him on international assignments, as well as local and national projects.

He was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ, New Tripoli, where he served on several committees, including chairing the stewardship committee.

He was a past president of the Easton Kiwanis Club and, most recently, was a member of the Allentown-West Rotary Club, serving as a founding member of the local club foundation.

He also served and was the first chairman of the Ontelaunee Restoration Committee in New Tripoli and was a founding member of the Lynn Heidelberg Historical Society

He served as a Lehigh County Community College Trustee for 10 years and was a member of the Pennsylvania State Advisory Board.

His survivors include sons Keith A. Nagle, Scott A. Nagle and wife, Sheila, (Beers) all of New Tripoli, Mark A. Nagle and wife, Michele, (Norkus) of Newark, Del.; grandchildren Christine Nagle, wife of Marco Romano, of Downingtown, Brad Nagle, Samantha Nagle, and Trisha Rabenold, wife of Harrison, all of New Tripoli, and Ryan and Erik Nagle of Delaware; and great-grandson Matteo Romano. He is also survived by his faithful and loving partner of nine years, Pamela S. Haas.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Wayne A. Nagle; daughter-in-law Tina Marie, wife of Keith, and sisters Anne Louise Maury, (husband Richard) and Phyllis Rau, (husband Richard).

He will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and the community at large.
