The Liberty and Freedom softball teams are hoping to be on a collision course for the District 11 6A softball finals. The Hurricanes were seeded third and the Patriots fourth with both teams having opening round byes. Liberty then met Stroudsburg and advanced with a 3-1 win. Meanwhile, Freedom rolled by Parkland 15-5. The semifinals were set for Tuesday, May 28, but unfortunately took place after our Bethlehem Press deadlines. Liberty was hoping to defeat second-seed Emmaus in the first semi with the Pates taking on top-seed Nazareth in the second game of the doubleheader at Pates Park. The finals are scheduled for Thursday, May 30, at a site and time that wasn’t yet determined. Meanwhile, Bethlehem Catholic was seeded third and routed Wilson 14-1 in the opening game. But the team fell to second-seed Northwestern 4-0.
