Sheckler career day

Career day for fourth-graders at Sheckler Elementary School was filled with information and fun May 3. Cupcakes, conversation and career details kept students engaged and enthusiastic while learning about a wide assortment of jobs.

Students were exposed to eight different occupations represented by their classmates’ parents/guardians. Sheckler Elementary’s second- and fourth-grade counselor Kim Ceccatti spoke of the importance of early exposure to assorted potential careers.

“When these kids are in high school, I want them to have clear ideas what they want to do after graduation,” Ceccatti said.

Speakers came from an assortment of professions in the Lehigh Valley. Some were management and production, while others were health care, sales and public service.

For some, this was a new experience - speaking to a group of their child’s peers. Others, especially with older children, were seasoned presenters.

All speakers were thrilled to participate in the day’s events.
