Peter G. Gross, 98, formerly of Emmaus, died May 25, 2024, at The Willow senior community in Macungie. He was the husband of the late Fay M. (Hallman) Gross who died in 2014. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Raymond R. and Amanda J. (Schiffert) Gross.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during World War II and was present on the USS Missouri during the signing of the Japanese Instrument of Surrender.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Emmaus.
He enjoyed making stained glass, playing cards and games and family vacations to the shore. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, cheering and watching the Flyers, Phillies and Eagles.
He was a welder, working for the former Western Electric and AT&T Microelectronics in Allentown for many years, retiring in 1986.
He is survived by a son, Michael D. and his wife, Deborah; sister, Shirley Bortz; grandchildren, Stephen, Tonya Urban, Tara Westbrook; three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Peter G., in 1992; daughter, Diane, in 1948; brothers, Russell, Howard, Raymond, Clarence, Robert; sister, Mabel.

Services will be held 11 a.m. May 31 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. A viewing will be held 10-11 a.m. May 31 in the funeral home.
