STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Michelangelo Rivera is in second grade at Governor Wolf ES. Michaelangelo is a hard working student. He loves to learn, is inquisitive and always has a positive attitude. He is a kind friend to everyone at Governor Wolf, and he wants to be a teacher when he grows up.
STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Lauren Brennan is a fifth grade teacher at Spring Garden ES. Mrs. Brennan is an exceptional teacher. She finds the potential in all of her students and finds ways for them to succeed.
ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Kim Daniels is a 2000 graduate of Liberty HS. She is currently a nurse at Liberty HS. After graduation, Kim attended Northampton Community College and received her associate degree in nursing and became an RN. She then went on to Bloomsburg University, where she received her BSN. She is currently working on her CSN from Eastern University.
END OF SCHOOL YEAR: All students will have an early dismissal June 6, high schools at 11 a.m., middle schools at 11:30 a.m. and elementary schools at noon. June 6 will be the last day of school.
BASD VACCINE PROGRAM: The vaccine clinic for children is typically held every Tuesday from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Appointments are required. Please contact your school nurse to assist you with scheduling an appointment.

MARKETING MUSIKFEST STUDENTS: Marketing Musikfest students from both Freedom and Liberty high schools held a news conference at ArtsQuest to announce their selected bands that will perform at Musikfest 2024. The seven bands, including the winner of F.A.M.E. (Freedom’s Amazing Musicians and Entertainers), will perform at Plaza Tropical Aug. 3 from noon to 6:30 p.m. ArtsQuest is proud to partner with the BASD on this unique, hands-on educational experience that allows students to apply the marketing and business skills they learn in class to a real-life setting at Musikfest.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
NEIGHBORHOOD VOLUNTEERS: Better Blocks for Bethlehem is seeking Southwest Bethlehem neighbors to sit on their front porches from 8:30 to 8:55 a.m. and 3:40 to 4:05 p.m. to look after our elementary students as they journey to and from Fountain Hill ES.
ANIMAL VOLUNTEERS: Last Chance Ranch in Quakertown is seeking volunteers to prepare animal food, walk dogs, cage/kennel cleaning, enrichment, vet transportation and events. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BOOK FAIR: The Knights of Columbus Council 15682, of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, is sponsoring a book fair featuring gently used books, CDs, DVDs and more for the whole family the first Sunday of the month through November from 8 a.m. to noon. The Book Fair will be located in the basement of the old Sacred Heart Church, 1817 First St., and Freemansburg Avenue in Miller Heights.
