Changes to come in Freemansburg

Press photo by Nate Jastrzemski Freemansburg and city residents be forewarned; a major project aimed at making the borough's congested Main Street safer is coming this year. Manager Jon Itterly said Freemansburg received approximately $1.5 million from PennDOT, a $200,000 grant from the Pa. Department of Community and Economic Development Multimodal program and potentially some other funding that is awaiting final approval. Work will include: new water and gas lines; new stormwater infrastructure; full depth roadway reconstruction and widening; new curbing and sidewalks; and new decorative lighting. The borough will be hosting public meetings in the coming months to discuss effects with residents and property owners. The dates for the town hall(s) have not yet been set.
