Celebrating commitment

As part of its annual Take the Lead Lehigh Valley program, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania honored four Lehigh Valley women leaders April 23 at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, celebrating their commitment to exemplifying courage, confidence and character to help make the world a better place. Through this program, four Girl Scouts were matched with the honorees to learn more about how they navigate their careers as women and how they better the Lehigh Valley community in diverse ways.

The four women leaders who were honored this year are:

• Carmen Bell, senior director of Healthy Aging, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley

• Katarah A. Jordan, chief executive officer, Boys & Girls Club of Allentown

• Danielle Joseph, executive vice president, Diversity Councils, Lehigh Valley Chamber

• Stephanie Sherry, vice president, Corporate Communications, Olympus Corporation of the Americas

Take the Lead represents the Girl Scout Program’s Pillars of STEM, Life Skills, Outdoors, and Entrepreneurship, and the night was filled with activities, networking and, of course, Girl Scout cookies. The ceremony serves as GSEP’s signature fundraising event – helping to provide hundreds of Girl Scouts throughout the Lehigh Valley with financial support so they can experience all that Girl Scout camp has to offer.
