Bethlehem Catholic, Freedom, and Liberty’s track and field teams competed at the District XI Track and Field Championships on May 14 and 15 at Blue Mountain High School.

Freedom’s Shacre Colwell was a proud gold medalist after winning the Class 3A triple jump with a distance of 46-02.00.

“It’s exciting because this is my first year jumping. We took a lot of time at practice and worked on my second phase a lot,” Colwell said. “I ran the 4x100 last year, but they told me to try triple jump because my legs are long. I wasn’t really feeling it at first, but I just kept going with it [because] they told me I would get three medals.”

The district medal was Colwell’s third this season.

Also from Freedom, Dylan Boyle won district bronze in the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:55.71.

Bethlehem Catholic had a gold medalist in the Class 2A 200 meter dash with Robert Williams and his time of 21.89.

Williams also won a fourth-place medal in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.18.

Teammate Mekhi Britt won the 800 meter run bronze medal with a time of 1:56.86.

Becahi’s boys 4x400 relay team of Robert Williams, Mekhi Britt, Brandon Andrews, and Tim Kraus took third place with a time of 3:26.05.

Liberty freshman Katie Drabouski won a bronze medal in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:21.34, and a fourth-place medal in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:08.98.

“The rain was actually nice and cool compared to the really hot weather for leagues, so it was definitely good [personal record] weather. I told myself to go out as fast as I can and stick with people, and especially don’t get boxed in,” said Drabouski, regarding the 3200 meter run. “It was really fast, but I realized I could hold on to it. This feels really good because I had no cross country experience, and so being a freshman and standing up on the podium felt really good for me to be up there.”

Also from Liberty, Jordan Thompson received a fourth-place medal for the discus throw with her throw of 98-07.
