Moravian University sophomore Shayaan Farhad (Liberty HS) has been named to the 2024 Landmark Men’s Tennis All-Conference Second Team in singles and the Second Team in doubles, and he was joined on the All-Conference Second Team in doubles by junior Anthony Ronca (Liberty HS) while junior Wyatt Marshall (Liberty HS) was named to the Honorable Mention squad in singles.

The trio helped the Greyhounds to a 17-5 overall record as Moravian set a new program record for wins in a season for the second straight year, surpassing the previous mark of 16 victories set last season, and a 7-2 slate in the Landmark Conference regular season to garner the third seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The Hounds defeated sixth seed Wilkes University, 5-1, in the first round of the tournament before falling to second seed Drew University in the Semifinals

Farhad, who was the 2023 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year to go with spots on the All-Conference First Team in singles and Second Team in doubles last spring, posted a 9-9 record while playing first singles again this year. Farhad has a 19-18 mark at first singles in his two seasons with the Greyhounds.

“I am so happy for Shayaan to be recognized for his talent and dedication throughout the season,” stated Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. “He’s a phenomenal athlete and he has established himself as one of the best players in our conference.”

Farhad and Ronca combined for an 8-8 doubles record at first doubles this season, and the duo has a 14-16 career mark as the Hounds’ top doubles tandem. In addition to being the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year last in 2022, Ronca also made the All-Conference First Team in singles and Second Team in doubles in 2022 and the Second Team in doubles last season.

“Shayaan and Anthony played at number one doubles all season against tough competition,” commented Freitas. “They communicate and work well together, marking the second consecutive year that this duo has earned recognition for their doubles performance.”

Marshall, who was on the 2022 All-Conference Second Team in doubles with Ronca, posted an 8-9 record in singles while playing in both the second and third spots in the line-up this season. Marshall is 27-15 overall in singles action during his career.

“Wyatt has been a solid competitor for us the past three years,” Freitas noted. “He is a smart player who has developed a more offensive style within the past couple years. I am grateful for his commitment and leadership to our program.”
