Dee officially sworn in to serve on Coplay council

Michael “Mick” Dee served his first official meeting as a Coplay Borough councilman at the May 14 general meeting. Mayor Stephen Burker officially swore Dee in to the position at the start of the meeting to ensure his participation in the meeting.

“I look forward to serving my community,” Dee said. “There was an opening, and I saw a need. I’m glad to serve the business of Coplay.”

Also at the meeting, council approved Officer Wayne Green’s return to the police department part time and approved the fire department to host its coin toss, scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 25 at Second and Chestnut streets.

Approvals were made for two hires from the 2024 Civil Service list, and Juan Araujo was approved to serve as a full-time police officer.

The next meetings will be June 4 for the workshop and June 11 for business. Meetings are held 7 p.m. at the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.
